I was in Chicago last week for the tastemakers conference and wanted to share some of the amazing food I had during my quick 48 hours trip!
Day 1: I arrived in Chicago in the morning and went straight from the airport to the tastemakers conference. After the conference I checked into my hotel and then went for happy hour at Mercat a la Planxa, which is a tapas bar on the south loop. I enjoyed a glass of sparkling rose, which was $6 during happy hour and the mussels in escabeche. I appreciated the happy hour prices and was curious to try the canned mussels, but in the end I wish I had ordered some of my favorite tapas dishes such as pan con tomate and patatas bravas.

I then ended the day by picking up a S’mores cupcake and jasmine tea at Molly’s Cupcakes

Day 2: I knew I couldn’t leave Chicago without getting a deep dish pizza so after the conference I picked up a personal size Deep Dish Malnati Chicago Classic from Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria.

I also learned about a bunch of amazing donut shops in the area so for dessert I got a vanilla old fashioned donut from Stan’s Donuts & Coffee

Day 3: Before heading to the airport I had a cinnamon roll and a liquid chocolate buzzed from Goddess And The Baker, which was the perfect end to the trip!
